SUMMARY
Werewolves can be dangerous if you get in their way, but they'll leave you alone if you are careful. They are very good at hiding their natures from the human population, but I'm not human. I know them when I meet them, and they know me, too. Mercy Thompson's sexy next-door neighbour is a werewolf. She's tinkering with a VW bus at her mechanic shop that happens to belong to a vampire. But then, Mercy Thompson is not exactly normal herself... and her connection to the world of things that go bump in the night is about to get her into a whole lot of trouble.

MY REVIEW

I bet I got a few of you really happy, haven't I? After all, lots of fellow bloggers suggested this series plenty of times during the years—a.k.a. since I launched this blog—and it was about time to fall to temptation...

I read this book in a matter of hours thanks to the fact it's fast-paced, action-packed, and full of intrigue. So of course I enjoyed it, but I'm afraid I didn't love it as hoped because I couldn't completely click with the characters... I have honestly nothing against any of them, they all carry an interesting personal baggage, it's a simple lack of connection. At least for now. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt because this is a first instalment and, as we know, in urban fantasy novels there's lots to get in first and foremost, meaning the attention is mostly focused on the world-building. On one hand, I've always been fond of that because without it we wouldn't be able to follow/understand things properly—and it's essential to make such a story greatbut, on the other hand, I would have also loved to feel something more for the people/creatures involved in here.

Overall, despite my attachment issue, I think it was a nice series opening, and I did have a good time with it. I believe I will need to read more of Mercy Thompson and see if my feelings get deeper.

RATING: 3/5
